We made it.
We made it across the desert from LA to Phoenix on Friday. Left at 12:30 pm and arrived 8 hours later. A drive that should take no longer than 6 hours. That is, if no kids are involved.
But we had kids involved.
Three of them.

Three of them.
And that means stopping to "rest." More than once. And for longer than 5 minutes. Uh, much longer than 5 minutes.
But just as I predicted last week, I had something up my sleeve that would pull us all through beautifully. My ace-in-the-hole.
"Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel"
Our brand-new DVD of Alvin and his crew was watched approximately 2 1/2 times on the drive.
And that means for approximately 4+ hours, the kids looked like this:

I'm not gonna say it was a perfect drive. Because really, is there ever a perfect drive? I'm just not gonna show you photos of the not-so-perfect stuff that went down.
Bottom line is - "The Squeakquel" pulled us through. And now I'm here in Arizona under sunny desert skies and I'm relaxed.
And because Easter was just so fabulous, I have decided to extend "The Squeakquel" giveaway for one more day.
So do you have a drive coming up? Or do you need some quiet time at home? "The Squeakquel" may just help you get what you need.
To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment. And if you tweet about it (and include @leevandeman) you will get an extra entry.
As always, if your comment makes me laugh, I'll give you an extra entry too.
And if you've never commented before, this is a good time to do it. Just make sure you leave an email address so I can reach you.
Yay for Spring Break! My brain is already turning to mush.

On the drive, I downloaded the Hipstamatic app to my iPhone and just wow. I'm having so much fun with it. Well worth the buck 99.

I love the photographs. You made a road trip look pretty! WOW!
ReplyDeleteI love road trips like that. :)
ReplyDeleteSo...that means you heard the audio to the Squeakquel 2.5 times??? I love the photo of your three standing together. Also, I like how you photo'd the gasoline prices. It is $2.67 here in GA and we are planning a road trip this summer to NM, AZ and CA and Hubs is thinking it was higher than your photo shows.
ReplyDeleteI guess you need to pick up more dvds for the return??
I just stumbled upon your blog...lovin' it! My kids love the Chipmonks, too, and this is one movie I don't mind watching, either! Enjoy your relaxation time before heading home!
ReplyDeletePlease tell me you had headphones so the adults in the car did not have to listen to those godawful Chipmunks and Chipettes...
ReplyDeleteCan you believe we already own this DVD?
ReplyDeleteYes. Of course you can.
And how did you do those pics like that?? I love it.
And I have told you this before, but your kids are the cutest kids ever. Cuter than mine.
I'd love it! Would bring in in the car for daily trips! Sometimes I wish I was a MWOB... then again, where would I rant and rave? Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteTweet!

Definitely could use a new movie to entertain the toddler duo! Also tweeted! :) Thanks for the great opportunity to get my hands on some new toddler entertainment!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had this movie for our drive last week. It took nine hours for our drive from Vegas to LA. We were just trying to get home from my Gpa's funeral. OH well, we made it and lots of memories too. :)
ReplyDeleteOh - love the photos! Especially love the groovy affect.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you guys had a good Easter.
Been missing you - XO
I'm driving to Tipp City, Ohio, on Saturday morning to attend a Watercolor Workshop. Can not use the DVD thing though - driving distracted through Indiana is NOT recommended - and I've heard that Ohio could be worse. And then, of course, there's the drive back on Monday.
ReplyDeleteAh, that movie rocked! (I'm a big fan, and thankfully so are short peeps!) Glad it got you through a tough trip! :)
ReplyDeleteI may be late for the giveaway, but that's OK. No really. If I have to hear my kids yell ALMAN one more damn time, I may be bustin' out hte duct tape. We've already been round and round w/ Princess and the Frog. Yes, my two children - whom are BOYS - are in love w/ the princess movie. does it ever END?
ReplyDeleteLove the shots!
ReplyDeleteOne thing I desperately miss from my minivan is the option to pop headphones on those kiddos and then listen to whatever I want - Odesseys rules.
Yukons? Nope, stuck with the Mario Bros. Over and over. Who the hell bought that?!
The Squeakquel would be a welcome change.
