Scones anyone?

I wanted to write some sort of poignant Mother's Day post and now in typical mama fashion, it has now gotten lost in the middle of a looming Mother's Day, uh, brunch.

I'm gonna find that poignant post about my motherhood after I lose myself in some crazy-ass Mother's Day beach brunch scene surrounded by the posh mamas of Los Angeles' Westside.  Of which I am not.  A posh mama that is.

But I'm gonna throw on a cool cotton skirt and top I just picked up at the recent Velvet Sample Sale and I'm gonna strut into that beach country club scene with a big ol' smile on my face with the best three things God has given me.

And I'm gonna eat some yummy fruit from platters piled high and scarf down some divine scones and drink my cappuccino.

And I'm gonna walk barefoot in the sand and I'm gonna push El Destructo in the swing and I'm gonna watch CR and The Love Fairy climb over the play structure screaming "Look at me MAMA!!"

And amidst the boutique dresses and eyelashes and the heels and the wealth, I'm gonna know that deep down we all have one thing in common.

We are mothers.

Happy Mother's Day my friends.

  5. You, my very dear friend, are WAY richer than any of those ladies you may have seen today. Your "wealth" is in your beautiful family and even more beautiful soul.

    Happy Mother's Day!

    Love you :-)

Way to go for walking in there KNOWING what's important. So, so, so true.

And, hey ... it actually sounds a lot better then mine ... I hosted my entire family for dinner for Mother's Day and two other family member's birthdays. Fun. Fun.

  7. What a lovely way to spend Mother's Day. I wanted to grab my "flowy" skirt and my stylish flip flops and join you. Wow, that'd be weird. Hey, you don't know me, but I'm here in my Mother's Day outfit and ready to party.

    You painted a beautiful picture.
