"Mama, you're the best mama ever."
"Oh really, why?"
"Because you love us even when you yell at us."
(Hmmmm, so they know I yell. I was hoping they didn't notice.)
"How do you know that?" I ask.
"Because you've told us that one hundred times."
Whew. And I always think I'm talking to myself.
Good to know one thing has sunk in.
Aww, that is too cute. Looks like you've done a good job!
ReplyDeleteAw, it's so nice to be told you're a good mama. And there's bonus points and frosting on top when it comes from your kid!
ReplyDeleteThey are listening to the important stuff - they might remember why you yelled at them, but they remember you love them when you yell!
ReplyDeleteso sweet, that love fairy.
ReplyDeleteAwwww - way to go Mama.
ReplyDeleteI got "you're the best Mama I've ever had" the other night from the Oldest (6).
Turns out he's Buddhist - who knew?
You're supposed to tell the little beasts that you love them?
ReplyDeleteMaybe that's what I'm doing wrong!
LOL
oh.... you yell?! we were getting along so well. i don't know now. i NEVER yell. ever. in the last 5 minutes, anyway. what is really sad is while i was not yelling, i was patting myself on the back in my mind for staying so calm. when moody teen got off the bus, i was greeted with "hey! i don't have an F in chemistry!" he said it like he had just been awarded a frickin scholarship. usually, i would launch into "oh, for your sake, you'd better NOT! why would you think you were even CLOSE to having an F... blah blah blah..." all unnecessary. today i just smiled and high fived him and said "yay! no F!"
ReplyDeletethere's that flash of supermom you're so fond of. lol.
This sounds like a line I heard from my mother (very INfrequently, of course, because I was a model child).
ReplyDelete"I don't like you (and/or what you're doing) very much right now, but I will always love you."
In the end, I think that's what really and truly matters to kids: unconditional love.
that was too cute! I must really love mt man then :)lol Plus, totally dig how deb handled bratty teenager today! That is classic, only hope to remain as calm and cynical! :)
ReplyDeleteShe's listening!
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteI only have two voices - the "I Love You" voice and the "what the hell have you heathens done now, I am going to call your father if I don't beat you myself" voice.
Hopefully my monkey's love me as much as yours love you.
Okay, I've yelled it 99 times now. Can't wait for the magical #100.
ReplyDelete(Don't burst my bubble, man.)
Have a great weekend...
:^) Anna
are we twins???? ARE WE???? I would always say that - even as i was screaming!!
ReplyDeletei love you lee.
And it was the right thing to sink in.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Love Fairy for hearing the important stuff and way to go Lee for saying it one hundred times (or more)!
There's nothing better than a child tucked into their secure bed in their secure home and feeling LOVED. Every child deserves that.
ReplyDeleteSo, you might yell sometimes, but you're doing way more "loving". Way to go, my friend.
It's the little things really. Too cute!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet. I guess it's okay to yell as long as the kids know you love them... I'll have to remember that one!
ReplyDeleteIsn't she the sweetest thing??? obviously just like her mama.
ReplyDeleteI have a meme for you today - come play along if you would like...Em
ReplyDeleteIt's great to be understood :)
ReplyDeleteHonesty is what I SO love about my children. The other day my 13 year old son said he's figured out when not to bother me...when I'm eating chips and salsa. That apparently means I'm not in a good mood. Perceptive? Maybe...lol
ReplyDeleteHey girl - looks like I missed some good stuff here this week. Oh, and I need to let you know you are the lucky recipient of an award given by the academy at Thoughts From a Sometimes Desperate Housewife...
